Selection Criteria

JIRP selects faculty based on feasibility of teaching/research plans, ability to teach in a variety of formats, alignment with JIRP curriculum, emphasis of place-based learning, and balancing the expertise of the JIRP faculty cohort.

In reality, we receive many excellent applications and simply cannot accommodate all of the faculty we think are great fits for JIRP. We view repeat applications as a sign of commitment, so if you don’t get in the first go around, please apply again!

Application Components

The 2025 JIRP Teaching Faculty Application requires:

1. Recommendations

For applicants who have not attended JIRP as faculty within the past ten years.

Please provide the names and contact information for two recommenders through the Teaching Faculty Recommenders Form. You must fill out the form twice, one time for each recommender. Our system will send a recommendation survey to your recommenders in lieu of a formal letter.

The recommendations themselves are due on the same day as the application, so we recommend submitting contact information early to give your recommenders plenty of time to complete their part of your application.

2. Teaching Faculty Online Application

Submit through our secure portal. The application does NOT save progress. We recommend you draft your answers separately using the questions document linked below, then copy-paste them into the form before submitting. Long-answer questions are limited to 250 words.

The application will be linked below when it opens (hopefully early the week of November 17/18). Apologies for the false alarm on social media!
